Croissant Critique

I find croissants to be annoying.
Devilish crusts forever cloying

to your beard or slyly lodged
in your pristine décolletage.

Greasy larvae pumped with air.
You won’t find much nutrition there.

They may be filled with cheese or ham,
But most are an excuse for jam.

I won’t go on with rant and roast.
Just give me the felicity,
The flavor sans duplicity,
The ease and the simplicity,
The hearty joy of toast.
