Century Gothic

Kat Sawyer was raised in Pasadena, California, at the hem of the glorious San Gabriel Mountains. She spent much of her childhood outdoors exploring the land that inspired so many early Impressionists.

She began her artistic life with a career in acting. Having received a B.A. in theater from U.C.L.A., she has appeared in over a hundred TV shows, movies, voice-overs, and commercials.

To balance her outward focus as a performer, Kat practices the inner art of yoga. A teacher since 1993, she is the prize-winning author of Voices from the Mat - Yoga Poems and Meditations.

As a painter, Sawyer's muse and mentor is Nature. In both her impressionist and abstract oil Land-escapes, she strives to capture this wild, organic spirit.

Showing in international, national, and regional exhibitions, Kat has won awards from Cincinnati to Morro Bay.

Her humorous article, Extreme Painting - The Perils of Plein-air was published in the October 2003 issue of The Artist's Sketchbook. In March 2006, The Artists Magazine featured her essay, The Painting-Yoga Connection.

Kat and her husband now live New Mexico where she is represented by Michael Wigley Galleries in Santa Fe and Indigo Gallery in Madrid.
